NIPGL PRESIDENT & Kenliworth NIPGL 2015 game

DAVID MC CLOY  2015 NIPGL PRESIDENT

I Consider it a great honour to represent the Northern Ireland Private Greens Bowling League as it's 99th President and would thank Ards Bowling Club Management Committee for nominating me for this office. I will endeavour to the best of my abilities to represent the Northern Ireland Private Greens Bowling League in a manner befitting the office of President.

During the season I will be visiting as many clubs as possible and look forward to seeing the many friends I have made in bowls since I first took the game up around 1983. In the meantime I wish all bowlers good health to enjoy theirs bowls throughout the season

The annual match between Kenilworth Bowling Club from         Dublin and the Northern Ireland Private Greens Bowling                                    League took place at Ards

Richard Minnis, was a member of Larne Bowling Club, a member of Kenilworth Bowling Club and a former President of the Northern Ireland Private Greens Bowling League. For much of 1942 Richard had feared blindness but thanks to the skills of ophthalmic surgeons  his sight was saved and in gratitude he decided that he would like to do something to help those who were similarly afflicted.

Richard came up with the idea of presenting this substantial trophy to be played for by Kenilworth Bowling Club and the Northern Ireland Private Greens Bowling League in the knowledge that his many friends in bowling would perpetuate an annual contribution to a charity in aid of the blind or those threatened with blindness.

A very good day of bowls and enjoyed by all played in the true spirit of the game which Richard Minnis would be proud of!
